Welcome!

Welcome to my Principal’s Blog. Here you’ll be able to read about recent and up-coming events and other educational issues. Please feel free to add your comments!

Thank you to those of you who attended our family evening last night. We hope you enjoyed meeting our new Board members and class teachers. We’ll be having further parent evenings early in May and look forward to many more of you coming along to find out about your child’s learning at school.

We also had our PTA Annual Meeting this week, on Monday evening. Unfortunately, at this point we do not have a full PTA committee for the coming year. I’ll be writing more about this in the newsletter next week. We’ve had a dedicated and hard-working group of parents organise our PTA for several years now and most of them have other commitments now. We’re looking for a new group of parents to come forward to support this group, so please do consider joining and contributing towards the community identity of the school.

We’ll be consulting about several areas  this year and we’d really appreciate as much feedback as possible. Early next term, there will be a family survey regarding our Post-school care so watch out for that. We’ll also begin the review of our Developing Talents programmes in Term Two.  The University of Auckland Centre for Continuing Education has  a programme running each Wednesday evening in May (7:00-9:00pm)  entitiled  ”Issues in Gifted and Talented Education”. Jenny Tong, our Assistant Principal, Lyn Stanton, a new Board member  and I will be attending this course. It’s designed for … ‘parents, whanau, carers, teachers and community members who have an interest in the education of gifted and talented children.’ Have a look at the link on my Blogroll if you think you may  be interested and have the time to attend.
