As of 10:38am today, our students’ fact-a-thon fundraiser has brought in a total of $10,900.50!
That’s amazing!
Thank you to all families who have supported this fundraiser. We’ll now be able to purchase an electric kiln for the school and have it installed. Our Arts programmes will benefit greatly from this and Annette, who leads the Arts curriculum is very excited, as are all staff.
We hope to have all fundraising money in to school by the end of Week One Term Four (Friday 12 October), so that we can award the prizes at our school assembly on Monday 15 October. Assembly starts at 10:00am if you’d like to join us for this celebration!
We may yet raise over $11,000! Wouldn’t that be wonderful! Let’s see if we can do just that!
Hi Rosemary,
Excellent website and I am a regular reader- it gives a lot of info about the school which the school newsletter doesn’t cover.
Just a friendly reminder that its been a while since you last updated it
Cheers
I know it’s a while back but – well done on raising the money – did you reach $11,000.
I don’t know if you remember but I worked at Edendale longer ago than even this page was last updated – way back in 2004! I worked as a classroom assistant while I was over in Auckland. It was great!
Anyway – I just wanted to say hi and let you know I am now teaching over here in the UK. Maybe our schools could get in touch?!
Hope you’re all well.
Andy Hoyland.
Hi Andy – Good to hear from you and what you’re doing; yes we did raise all the money and a little extra!
What class level do you teach? I’m sure someone would like to have an inter-class exchange! Some sharing of school systems and programmes might be an idea as well…
I’ll be back on board with writing very soon – we’ve had a really busy time recently! Regards and do stay in touch!
Hi Rosemary… I am currently teaching Y2 (6&7 year olds) but moving to Y4/5(8-10years) in September. We’re quite a different school to Edendale – much smaller and in a village rather than a large city.
An inter-class exchange sounds like a great idea. Especially as Y4/5 look at the Southern Hemisphere as a topic!
Hi Rosemary
Just heard that the school will be running another fundraiser this term. Sounds great! Just wondering how the students are enjoying the kiln? What year levels have managed to use it, and what are they producing? I love ceramics and clay modelling and would love to hear how the children and getting on.
Rosemary
Could you please provide the parents with an update on the kiln which we fundraised for last year – I understand it’s not up and running yet?. The children are very keen to see this in operation – and many of those who raised the funds now only have 2 terms left at school!
Many thanks and look forward to your response!
Thanks for your comments regarding the kiln. Sorry I’ve not been able to answer immediately; the kiln certainly is ‘all go’ now. A trial firing with penguins that children in Rimu team have made was very successful last term. Ohana Team will be using using the kiln next – we do indeed want to ensure that Year Six students have an opportunity to use it before moving on to intermediate.
Peter Lange, with whose work many of you may be familiar, has been assisting us with the set up process, firing information and glazes etc. We very much appreciate his involvement and support!
Keep a look out in the next newsletters for further information about the kiln.
